Not everyone gives Mitt credit for being the first non-incumbent to pull victory out of Iowa and NH ever. Just a post from a Dem blog but I am sure some of these will pop up over the next 10 days.

• Romney won among those making over $100,000 with 44%. That’s not a very good optic since the GOP is looked upon as the party of the wealthy.

• Republican turnout was down 40%,a general lack of enthusiasm that could hurt Republicans like it did Democrats in 2010.

• Fox News asked New Hampshire voters if Romney would win the nomination. Most said no. This suggests that voters believe hard core conservatives will influence who the nominee becomes.

• 55% of non-Romney voters said they would be dissatisfied if Romney wins the nomination. This is bad for Romney and Republicans. Clearly this is tied to voter enthusiasm. If the voters aren’t happy about Romney, they’ll likely vote for a third party or stay home on Election Day.

• Romney used a teleprompter to give his speech tonight. Hypocrite.

• New Hampshire Republicans consider themselves moderates, whereas the other Republican primary states are far more conservative, so Mitt Romney shouldn’t be declaring victory yet.

• If moderates are generally dissatisfied by Romney getting the nomination, you can bet that conservatives are REALLY going to be dissatisfied.

• Between Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney these past few days, Democrats now have plenty of dirt to use against Mitt Romney should he become the nominee.

• Many independent voters voted for Huntsman, suggesting that many independents are not sold on Romney.

Romney handily won New Hampshire but it took a political toll. Damage has been done by Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney also provided sound bites that Democrats can hammer him with. We all knew that Romney was going to win New Hampshire. It’s in New England where Romney served as Governor in neighboring Massachusetts so he clearly had a decent ground game and name recognition. But it appears that most people only voted for Romney because they want someone who can beat President Obama. In other words, Republicans in New Hampshire have no problem with flip flopping and corporate puppetry. Now, the attention is turned toward South Carolina where the winner has traditionally become the nominee.
