Get fitted at a running store where they can recommend a shoe to your foot strike. You might pay more initially, but it's worth it to get the right shoe. The wrong shoe will lead to injuries. Once you find a good shoe, you can buy them cheaper online (Road Runner Sports has a great return policy - 30 days).
New Balance are good for heavier runners with flat feet (stability). I have high arches and run in either Nike Zoom Vomeros or Mizuno Wave Riders
Asics has some good shoes as well, but a good running store will let you hit the treadmill to test them. Don't go by what some 125-lb kid tells you works for him.
