not to mention health insurance, retirement, etc......there are players that hit a tourny for that kind of $$$ and withdraw it. Hell, i hit a tourny or two for like 5k and the first thing i did was withdraw 90% of it and leave the rest for playing.

guys like gus hansen, tom dwan, etc have million dollar swings in a DAY, so you can imagine the bankroll they have. A lot of players also have backers and split winnings with

its a risk/reward "profession" for sure, but if you have the patience, money management skills, etc.....some people make a go of it

my old roomie out in LV plays poker for a living.....his consensus was you should have at least 100 BB per game and 100 buy ins at all times in your "bankroll" just to manage against the swings of poker.

he plays 1-2 NL mostly online.....thats $200 x 100 = $20,000....just as a starting point, some people suggest 200 buy ins.

do the math on someone that plays 5-10 or 25-50....

there is your poker tip of the day

im happy cashing out 1k, LOL
It is what it is......

I know of someone who moved to Mississippi to do nothing but play poker. Last I heard he was still there and had been for a few years.

blah blah blah

If I was single with no kids and could get away with playing poker online or at casinos for a living I'd do it in a heartbeat.

I'm not going to bother. It's just a matter of time with the other sites.
The Orangemen are just a rock-solid, consistent winner that hasn't suffered a losing season since 1968-69.

never been down there. played in a celeb/charity thing a few weeks back and some of the people playing go down there, as well as some of the dealers. Seemed liked typical, slightly better than your average stiff but not by much poker degenerates.

If he works for the Globe, then he probably is already a douche.

Still, reporters don't pick their stories---those directives/agendas come from above.

Not to mention, state and fed governments are all over this shit nowadays.
