Those that care intervened and sent him to a rehab and he did his 30 days (at a cost of $30K) but he never wanted to go, he only went becaue he was confronted and he lied to the staff the entire time he was there. He gave my sister shit when she spoke with him on the phone and told him that she was going to be truthful with the couselors/staff and he was an asshole to her and hung up on her. This being from a guy who hadn't seen or spoken to her in 3 weeks (facility rules), She went to the facility anyway and tried to help him but he got back in MA after his 30 days promising that he was done with booze... and lasted less than 4 days before having a "misstep". He has since been found passed out at his desk at work which led to him being detoxed for a couple of days leading to another stint in a rehab in NH. He lasted one day there and checked himself out despite her telling him that "they" were over if he did so. In his mind he doesn't have a problem, has a handle on it and everybody else is an asshole. She understands this is/can be a long drawn out process but truthfully I think the time away from him made her realize that she was happier without him. I like him, he's a nice guy (when I see him) and I'm certainly not a judge but if he continues his current path I'd say she'll be done with him by summer.

It costs fucking $30k for 30 days in rehab?

Is that ever covered by insurance or is it always paid out of pocket?

The place he went cost that amount. Sad but true, especially when it seemingly did nothing. Insurance does not cover this. The place he was admitted to for 30 days was the Cadillac of rehabs, the "other" place he went to apparently had regular stiffs,q hence the one day stay.
