Nothing wrong with it at all, but I'm not working for 40k a year. I'm seriously struggling at my current salary w/ no overtime, I legit would not be able to cover my expenses and responsibilities. And that doesn't include supporting my drinking habit.

It's now been two+ years since I was laid off from the best job I ever had(combination of pay and coolness factor) and I'm still looking. I was out of work for 6 months and took a crappy job just to have something, and I'm still stuck in that crappy job. I've had three chances to return to NASA and each time a layoff would happen and the spot would get filled with someone that was about to get laid off. This is a high tech city and I don't have a technical degree. Anytime I do get a promising lead, the pay isn't worth making the move. I had a headhunter contact me via email yesterday about taking a job in Mobile, Al on a 12 month contract(I'd leave my family here and make the 6 hour drive home for the weekends), and I would do it for the right money. We exchanged several emails in rapid fire, then she asked me how much money I'd need to take the job and after I replied, I never got another message. I had another recruiter hunt me down for a job and they recommended me for the job, then just as we were about to make things official the company cut back and in the process didn't fill the position.

It has gotten to the point where we are looking in other cities and will move the whole family if necessary. It sucks to a degree, though I'd like to live in a bigger area, but this is what it has come to.

That whole story depresses me. I don't have the option of moving to another area for at least another 3+ years. I did get a call from a recruiter today, so we'll see what happens.
