I did not B luc. I didn't get accepted. (It's tough to get into)
35K to 60K, at the end of the day, you owe $120K-$180K (with capitalized interest on the private loans) at the end of it. Stafford loans only take you so far, so you're forced to borrow private loans to make up for the difference in tuition, which is usually significant. Add on the costs of living to those private loans and you're knee deep in the shit.
I don't regret going, but at no point did I really consider the financial implications, which is the one thing I tell anyone who is considering the process. If someone else is paying, go. If you're paying (which I had to), you really need to consider your appetite for risk and post-graduation/bar-passing stress. It's kind of a racket, but people still flock there in bunches.
I don't know if I'd do it again knowing what I know now; may change things for some with the advent of the new UMASS Law School in the works b/c I think the cost will be much more palatable.
