NBC - A 12-year-old Monmouth County boy was struck by a bird while riding a rollercoaster at Six Flags in Jackson Township, N.J. Shane Matus, of Howell Township, told Philadelphia’s NBC10.com that he was riding in the front car with his friend on the Kingda Ka rollercoaster around 5 p.m. Thursday  when something slammed into his face. “When it hit me I was like, ‘What the-? Did somebody throw a ball or something?’ When I started spitting out feathers, I was like, that was a bird,” said Shane. Shane showed NBC10 the bruises and scratches on his neck and face from where the bird struck him. Shane believes the bird was a pigeon. “They say the bird exploded,” said Shane. “It hurt a lot for like three seconds. People behind us had feathers and blood all over them.”

True story when I was about 13 years old I was tubing upstate on some lake and I got my face DESTROYED by a duck. Just annihilated my grill. But I’m pretty sure I killed the shit out of that goose with my face. Its body just fell lifeless into my lap as I rolled off into the water. I felt like someone shot me in the face with a 12 gauge.

So I feel this kids pain. I know the pain of murdering a bird with your face at high speeds. I know the shock, the horror. The confusion. I know the remorse that rattles around in your brain. “Why me, God? Why me?” Its a pretty traumatic experience. And unless you’ve ever taken a duck to the teeth at speeds of 40 MPH or more, you just couldn’t understand. “We are! People who have been hit in the face with birds traveling at high speeds!”
