Don’t the Rangers know how fragile playoff leads are?  Haven’t they been watching for crying out loud?  Don’t they know how dangerous playing back on their heels can be?  Despite the lessons to be learned from the countless comebacks this post-season has already seen, the Rangers let an important one slip away last night as they dropped Game 4 in overtime to the Senators.  After taking an early 2-0 lead off of rare power play goals from Anton Stralman and Ryan Callahan, a complacent blueshirt squad let Ottawa chip its way back into the game scoring twice in the second and then again two minutes into sudden death.

Kyle Turris’ top corner snipe brought the Rangers’ playoff overtime record to 1-7 in the Henrik Lundqvist era, a stat that truly mars what the goalie has meant to this team.  Despite their regular season penchant for punching home those winning goals, they’ve lost twice now to Ottawa when requiring extra time and frankly I’m getting fucking sick of it.  I’ve seen enough stressful sudden death situations end with the other team celebrating.  I can’t take it anymore.  I would rip the Rangers a new one for not winning their goalie the game, but one total shot in overtime isn’t exactly the brick wall effort we’ve come to expect from the King.  Sure, the shot was perfectly placed and difficult to pick up as it slipped through Stralman’s screening legs, but New York came out with momentum and could have taken it with just a little more time spent peppering Anderson.  Is it so much to ask that we actually fucking win one of these extra time contests?  Rozy’s goal against Buffalo in ’09 is far too far in the past for my liking.  It wasn’t quite the backbreaker that Game 4 was last year, but a 3-1 series lead would have been a freaking shit load better than this 2-2 tie we’ve got now.  I don’t know what else to say.  I’m floored. Numb yet enraged. I’m beside myself, incapable of forcing the funny, pissed the fuck off and ready to smash in Senator skulls.  Let’s hope the Rangers are feeling the same way, and play like it on Saturday. @Osgood_StoolNYC
