NY Post — If you have studied both teams and decided the Giants should knock off the Patriots on Sunday in Super Bowl XLVI, don’t bother alerting the Giants. They are too busy assuming no one thinks they can. “No, they ain’t picking us, we aren’t getting the picks like we should be,’’ running back Ahmad Bradshaw told The Post yesterday, sounding slightly annoyed. “People don’t figure us to be as good as we are. We’re a great team. We got people in the right positions and we’re clicking at the right time. “We’re going to use it as an insult, and we’re going to play with all our heart, we’re going to give it our all and — I don’t want to put it out there like that — but we’re going to prove everybody wrong who doubts us.’’ None other than Tom Coughlin not only bought into the underdog label but practically demanded it be crazy-glued onto his team, though so many more people give it a solid chance to beat the Patriots than did four years ago. “It’s still us against the world, and that’s how we play that, period,” the coach said. “We’re in here, and I’ve seen a lot of what’s been said in terms of where we are. We’re still the underdogs and we’ve still got a lot to prove.’’

I understand the Giants are technically underdog as far as Vegas is concerned, and I understand what Tom Coughlin is trying to do here, but this “us against the world” shit from the Giants this time around is a joke. I know some of the most conservative Giants fans out there. Guys that always expect to have their hearts broken by Big Blue. And even they are carrying around some quiet confidence. All the talk is whether you’d want Eli or Brady in this game. Whether you’d want Gronk/Welker/Hernandez or Nicks/Cruz/Manningham. How the Giants pass rush is monstrous and the Pats are throwing guys like Julian Edelman back there in their secondary.

And I understand that I’m in New York so I probably hear some skewed talk. But no matter how you cut it, I don’t think anyone is calling the Giants a long-shot, hail mary, need-a-miracle underdog. This game is almost a toss up. I suppose when you went 9-7 and now you’re in the Super Bowl you still get to play that card, but I dunno. Just seems like a bit of a stretch for Big Blue to try to act like its 2007 all over again.
