INDIANAPOLISFollowing the Giants’ 21-17 win in Super Bowl XLVI, running back Brandon Jacobs made it clear he thought the Patriots’ reign has come to an end. “We decapitated them,” he said. “They can’t wear that crown no more.”

That about sums it up, folks. Decapitated. Straight Highlander style. Thats the only way you kill immortals, right? Slice that shit off at the top and snatch that crown.

Has there ever been a more embarrassing defeat for the once proud franchise of New England? For sure not. The entire region laid it all on the line. Everyone from El Presidente right down to Tom Brady knew this was the biggest game in the history of the Pats organization. “Revenge.” “Redemption.” Prove we’re the greatest ever blah blah blah. I mean they were taking out fucking billboards for God’s sake. This was the one. Win a 4th ring. Decide Brady is the greatest ever. Establish a real Dynasty. They put all their chips in the middle of the table on this once.

Its just too bad the Giants were already All In. And so now another year goes by with Brady and Belichick going ringless. Another year of choking to add to that ever growing theory of maybe Brady and Belichick just had a nice little 3 year run in the mid 2000s and the rest is just regular season successes and playoff failures. Another year with Eli hoisting the Lombardo Trophy and MVP honors and realizing that another QB may be the most clutch out there. Another organization is just as successful. New England could have proved everything with this Super Bowl. Instead they left everyone doubting them more than ever.

Decapitated. I love it.
