ESPNEli Manning just won his second Super Bowl MVP and is set to host “Saturday Night Live,” but the New York Giants quarterback says he’s behind Jets signal-callers Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow when it comes to popularity in New York City. In a panel discussion over this past weekend with Fox News host Shepard Smith at an Ole Miss event honoring the former Rebels quarterback, a playful Manning cracked about his new standing among New York quarterbacks after Tebow arrived in a trade in late March. “New York Giants just won a championship yet I’m still the third most-talked-about quarterback in my own city,” he deadpanned as the crowd erupted in laughter in a video posted on FoxNews.com. Manning often says he doesn’t pay attention to what is written or being said about him or the Giants in the media, but the intense public scrutiny regarding Tebow’s arrival and Sanchez’s reaction to the move has been nearly impossible to avoid.

I guess Eli has forgotten about the first 4 years of his career when he was roasted by the media every second for his interceptions and his “Eli face” and he’s aww-gee-shucks demeanor, huh? Bro this is New York City. Silence is just about the rarest commodity in this town. Silence in the world of New York sports is a badge of honor. Its probably more valuable than the two rings on your finger and the 2 trophies in your case. Silence from the media and the haters is only reserved for the all time greats who earn it. The only other guys I can really think of that have earned that prize is Jeter and Mariano. Guys like you three have graduated from the back page banter of the Post and the News. Leave that to the Sanchez’s and Tebow’s who haven’t proved enough yet to be above reproach.

So take it as an accomplishment, Eli. Nobody is taking about you because their ain’t nothing else to say except “He’s a future Hall of Famer with 2 rings and 2 MVP trophies from 2 of the biggest Super Bowl wins in NFL history.” It gets boring to repeat that over and over and over again.

Its that time again, folks! Need to find a new Giants writer. Things have worked out great so far with Strasser the Pizza Boy Yankees blogger. He’s exactly what we were looking for. Diehard fan, understands the Barstool sort of humor. Blogs pretty much every single day. Kills it on Twitter. So prospective Giants writers, follow in his footsteps. You have a brand new blueprint right in front of you. Should be easy. Same as last time – set up an actual blog like Giants.barstoolsports@blogspot.com or whatever. Doesn’t matter what the name is. Just make sure its an actual website, start blogging like its Barstool, and email giantswriters@gmail.com with your submission
