Fuck Joakim Soria

ESPN – If the Yankees are indeed interested in acquiring Kansas City Royals All-Star closer Joakim Soria, they will face one more hurdle — a no-trade clause. The Yankees are one of the six teams on Soria’s no-trade list, a baseball official with knowledge of the contract tells ESPN New York. Rumors have been circulating that the Yankees want to make Soria their new eighth-inning man to replace Joba Chamberlain. The no-trade clause is one hurdle, but the biggest mountain that Yankees general manager Brian Cashman must move is the Royals’ reluctance to trade Soria. Kansas City has told teams it will listen on Soria, but it will take a boatload of talent to acquire the right-hander.
Well a big FUCK YOU out to Joakim Soria. You don’t want to play for the Greatest Franchise In All Of Sports? Then the Yankees don’t want you either dick. I don’t see the Yankees parting with top prospects for a bullpen arm anyway, but Soria could’ve been a lights out bridge to Mo for the next couple years before potentially taking over for the G.O.A.T. Guess the guy just likes losing 90 games a year and being out of the playoff hunt by Memorial Day. To each his own. Have fun in KC Joakim, however the fuck you say your name.
Bottom line is the Yankees bullpen has been a fucking train wreck all season. Yeah they still have the best record in the universe and will probably win another title regardless, but I’d feel a lot better if it wasn’t Dave Robertson or Joba AKA The Real Life Kenny Powers as the 8th inning guys come playoff time.
Hahaha Yanks fans throwing a tantrum because they can’t get what they want. Stunner.
and this is why the yankees are a total fucking joke. best record in the game, they only have one weakness, which is the bullpen (a problem most teams have every year). at the end of the bullpen, they have the GOAT.
so… are they looking for downs, linebrink, or some other decent middle reliever/set up man? no. they want to take a shit team’s 2nd best player and make him their 8th inning guy as the SET UP MAN for the GOAT. and then their pussy fans act all offended that the guy doesnt wanna play there.
the sox tried this shit with gagne in 2007 and it blew up in their face, and almost cost them the title. and rightfully so.
this is why baseball is a distant 2nd to the NFL now. the big market teams phase out the small market teams more and more every year by pulling this bullshit and toss all ethics aside by saying “well, its not illegal. they’re playing by the rules.”
well, its not illegal for a millionaire getting a divorce from some stupid whore to hit up every divorce lawyer in town with a retainer so she cant find legal counsel. but it still makes him a piece of shit for doing it.
yea, im a red sox fan. and im not including the sox as a team that falls victim to this kind of shit. but im a baseball fan first and the game is irreperably fucking broken cuz of this bullshit.
Is there a cyber-rule against comments longer than the actual post?
sorry i got worked up
Was Joba the most over-hyped baseball player of all time? ESPN slobbed all over the dude’s snob before he even threw a pitch, and he’s never done shit since.
I would read it but I just read a blog. I’ll check it out in 35-40 minutes.
snob should be knob
The guy doesn’t want to be a set-up man, and by going to the Yankees, he knows he wouldn’t be able to be a closer during the primetime of his career. Perhaps the Yankees could look in their farm system for a good pitcher, like many other teams do? Or would that be too pure?
Hank if you read it fast it makes sense anyway.
Scarn please get off the soap box and pull the tree branch out of your ass. Thanks
too pure? you people are a bunch of idiots. clearly yankees are the only team who look to trade for established major leaguers right?
its called a pennant race. just because your shitty teams are out of the race doesn’t mean the good teams can’t try to improve
good contribution, relioneli
scott, the welfare of the league is more important than that of the yankees. sorry if this is news to you…a guy who writes about sports.
Scott, I’m not an idiot am I?
Scott your mom let you go back on the computer?
Guess holding up the sign was enough punishment
My mom makes me read scott’s posts for punishment.
scott learned how not to write long as shit, take heed michael scarn
As a Yankee fan I would have loved to see them get Soria. But the dude is in the prime of his career and probably didn’t want to spend years setting up for Rivera, who looks like he could pitch for 5 more years. I don’t see anything wrong with that.
The other 5 teams on his list are also probably teams with established closers, like the Dodgers, Red Sox, Tigers, etc…
So take a Zanax Scott and chill the fuck out.
welfare of the league? tell that to all the teams that pocket fat checks from the steinbrenners every year for the luxury tax. yankees literally subsidize some team’s entire scouting departments and minor leagues.
and mom is at the store, figured i’d sneak a post in before she gets back home
and no 610, youre not an idiot
Scott you’re a fucking moron. Soria could easily waive his no-trade clause if the Yankees and Royals ACTUALLY come to a deal. The no-trade isn’t what’s holding up the deal, it’s the fact that the Yankees don’t want to deal Joba.
scoop and slam your blog fucking sucks dude
Scott is on rampage today, he must have found out Jimmy D is coming back, LMFAO
The problem in baseball isnt the Yankees trading for all the big name guys. They pay a HUGE luxary tax for that shit every year. Owners of the Pirates and the Royals pocket that money for themselves and don’t put it back into thier team. Thats the fuckin problem, blaming it on the Yankees and the Mets and yea even the Red Sox (cause don’t tell me the Red Sox don’t sign and trade for as many big name guys as the Yankees do) is just an easy cop out. I am also still in the minority that thinks Joba can still be effective and Robertson has been nasty latley and was last year in the playoffs. Sorias overkill just like landing Cliff Lee and Dan Haren would be overkill, come playoff time. Its gunna be CC, Andy, AJ and Javy and Hughes is going back to the pen. This stupid innings limit hopefully won’t effect Hughes like it did Joba
Wait wait wait…if Scoop is right, KC actually WANTS Joba (and I assume others or cash) for Soria?
Get the fuck outta here…
Scott, calling the kettle black much?
no i’m not calling the kettle black. i’m telling you that your blog fucking sucks. plain and simple. thanks for reading and commenting on my blogs though
Hate it when people call me “black”…
Scoop – Scott is right, your blog does suck.
That hurts coming from you, Scott. That REALLY hurts.
hey, how’d he do that italics thing? i can make a face
Scarn, this is why the yankees are a total fucking joke?
No, this is why the Yankees are defending World Series Champs and are consistently a threat in the post season.
They don’t worry about things like the luxury tax and other teams feelings, they fucking go out and get major league ready players to contribute to their ball club. If every team didn’t just pocket the luxury tax money and actually put the money back into their franchise, there would be a more competitive balance in baseball.
Yet, teams will continue to bitch about the Yanks because they have too much money. Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Go out and do what the Yanks do, TRY AND FUCKING WIN AT ALL COSTS.
Oh yea and fuck Soria. Enjoy losing 90 games for the rest of your career so you can rack up 40 useless saves a year you prick.
Swimsuit pic of Alex for the motherfucking win
Yea, she is amazing.
No one should be pissed at Soria. He’s a smart guy. He knows the Yankees are a bunch of cocksuckers- from the shortstop to the guy working in the Yankee clubhouse who caught Arod giving Girardi a reach around.
VoiceofReason, your name could not be more off. You are a complete fucking retard.
Fishy watch out for Scarn. Hes a devout baseball fan that knows jack about baseball. Tough to argue with that.
VoiceofReason don’t hate cuz your 7 back and falling. Just another year not making the playoffs for the Bosox.
Tell theo follow cashman around at the winter meetings this offseason so he can see how to win CONSISTENTLY. Not once every 100 years or so
^^ to
Fishy- you sound like a middle aged Yankee fan who jumped on the bandwagon say around 1996, while telling anyone who would listen that you were a Yankee fan from the get go but at the same time you couldn’t name the team they lost to in the 1995 playoff. Jagoff.
Seattle Mariners, JAGOFF
I believe it was Edgar Martinez who drove in Griffery Jr, who then lept into someones arms after he scored.
Eat a dick.
Scott…
Any of them Yankees get back from Sheppard’s funeral yet?
What? You mean none of them went??? WTF??
Groove Nation – was that funny? It amazes me how worthless some of the comments you idiots say are.
Having said that, Scoop and Slam, your blog does suck. A lot. I’ll be sure to never click your name again.
fishy- the Internet can help anyone , even Yankee fan losers like you.
brooos relax. soria just wants to take over for papelbon next year
Of course you would say that voice. If I didn’t answer it correctly you would have called me a bandwagon jumper who doesn’t know shit. When I did answer it correctly, you stated the internet helped me. Lose-Lose with you man.
Fyi- I knew that off the top of my head, it is one of the more famous walkoffs in league history, but I digress.
Ahhhhhhhh the sense of entitlement that comes along with being a Yankee fan is second to none.
I GUARANTEE when Soaria waves his no trade clause, then blows his first opportunity for a hold, Yankee fans will jump feet first down his throat an boo the ever loving shit outta him…
the yankees play in NY, where there are more ppl, more revenue, and more longtime fans than anywhere else. they make back that luxury tax$ easily cuz they have the advantage of playing in NY. you cant make nearly that kind of $ in KC, Pitt, Wash, etc. NY always gets whatever FA they want cuz they have more means, and trying to throw up a comparable amount of $ would bankrupt those other teams in a couple years. that $14M in luxury tax$ from NY still aint gonna allow them to compete for a FA against NY, even their own FA.
its not NYs fault there isnt a cap, but theres never been a cap and it was never a problem till the yankees decided it was cool to exploit their geographical advantage to bury half the teams. MLB is selling competition, and when 1/2 the competition is priced out, theres a problem.
hey i know alot of you arent digging the long posts, so to all of those guys, please accept my most heartfelt “fuck you”.
Pittsburgh and Washington (DC) I think you meant…are pretty big markets. The Steelers do just fine and the Redskins franchise is ranked in the top 5 for highest networth for a sports team.
The reason why the Pirates are bad is because they trade away all their good talent. Jason Bay, Nady, McClouth, Marte, etc.
And to be honest, the fact that a Redsox fan is crying about the Yankees “exploiting” their geographical advantage to buy players is fucking laughable man. They paid 50 mil to talk to a fucking guy.
And when I say they, I obviously mean the Redsox. The Yankees play within the rules and the competitive balance is just fine. Yanks have spent all this money over the past decade and have 2 World Series to show for it. By the way you’re talking, it seems like they won fucking 10.
Well said fishy. Touche’.
If you don’t want Joakim Soria then you’re clearly a bad baseball fan. Might be a Yankees fan but a true baseball fan knows players on teams like KC who no casual fan gives a shit about.
Hey Scott, I think I had a point when calling the Yankees out as saying they should look into the farm system. You don’t get sick of them trading away young talent all the time for another team’s superstar? Your comeback was that I’m an idiot. And I don’t root for a shitty team, I’ve actually been a Yankee fan since birth. But if you can remember back to 1996-2000, they did it without trying to acquire every team’s top talent. Instead, they relied on average guys working together. I’m just sick of the Yanks always trying to get every top talent without worrying about their prospects and building a little bit. Maybe I’m an idiot, but I’m not the one with people jumping down my throat with everything I say telling me I suck.
And I’ll give credit where it’s due, the real life Kenny Powers analogy is right on. I don’t know, I’m just saying it would be nice to see a good young arm given a shot at the pro level rather than trying to get somebody from outside of the organization. Not sure if you agree, but I get a lot more satisfaction out of Phil Hughes being successful than a guy the Yanks threw a monster contract at in the offseason. Maybe I’m in the minority of Yankee fans because of this, and maybe it makes me stupid, but I think it’s good to see homegrown talent succeed.
Aside from the Yankees, the rest of the teams that Soria can block a trade to are Boston, Detroit, Philadelphia, St. Louis, and the Chicago Cubs. Aside from St. Louis (swap them for the Mets), these are the top payrolls in baseball. Soria currently has THREE very club-friendly options at the end of his contract.
2+2= Soria can use his no-trade clause as leverage to negotiate a better contract. It has nothing to do with where he does or does not want to play. It’s a business move, and a good one.
youre out of your fucking skull saying the “competitive balance is just fine”. pull the wool over your eyes some more, Mush Mouth.
pitt’s a struggling blue collar city that will only have football and hockey teams within 10 years and washington is in essence a new expansion team right now thats baseball market is so big that they didnt have a team for 40 years. neither could never ever compete for a player with NYY, NYM, Bos, LAA, Chi, LA, etc or hope to keep a star of their own once they hit FA that one of those teams want.
the same 4 or 5 teams make the playoffs every year with a couple others mixed in because the competitive balance is fucked. the yanks havent dominated the WS cuz its a crap shoot once you make the playoffs. but about 10 teams dont even have a chance for the playoffs from day 1.
i dont know how many times i have to say it, but ill go once more. IM NOT COMPLAINING FOR THE RED SOX. im complaining for all the teams that are priced out because of how the yankees, red sox, and their ilk dont realize that they are in the business of marketing MLB competition AS WELL as their own team.
ok, ok im done now. last word or not.
Scott, D-Rob has been great for the last two months. Give the dude some credit. Plus if you don’t think Joba can turn around then I think you are being a little short sighted.
DLeaf, if Joba was the key to the Soria deal (which he isn’t, just saying), I would deal Joba in a SECOND.
Scarn, I understand what you’re saying but if some of these smaller market teams actually held onto their talent then maybe they could make more money by selling tickets, merchandise, etc. If Pittsburgh keeps dumping guys like Bay and Nady, they won’t have shit for a product.
Joba literally has been the real life Kenny Powers. Haha thats like the perfect analogy. Robertson has been much better and was awesome last year too. As for the competitive balance, Its really just the American League East. Look at every other Divison. The White Sox are winning the central at the moment but the central is always a toss up. Texas are winning the West over the Angels (The team thats been there every year and JUST traded for Dan Haren) The wild card is going to be whoevers 2nd in the East. The National League, The Braves? Look at the Mets, they’re like 3rd in payroll in Baseball and they’re in 3rd place. The central for a good part of the year has been THE REDS! THE FUCKING REDS! It’ll be the Cardinals in the end though. Last but the most of my point. THE PADRES. HOW THE FUCK DO YOU EXPLAIN THE PADRES? Its ALL home grown guys. They haven’t made one move of all year and theyre still in 1st place in front of the Dodgers, Rockies and Giants. The competitive balance isn’t perfect but its not impossible to be a winning team without spending money.
hahahah, love it…stuck with Joba the Turd
Good post Smallz….outside of I guess football I would say that baseball has the best post season races in sports. The biggest division lead right now for ANY team is 5 games. 5 games is not very hard to make up.
Scarn is just pissed because teams like the Pirates and Royals will be bad for the next 25 years. Yet every sport has teams like this. NFL- Browns, Chiefs, Raiders. NBA- Nets, Wizards, Cavaliers (Starting this season of course), NHL- I don’t give a fuck about hockey.
Anyways, you see where I am going with this. In every league there is always a handful of teams that literally have no hopes of making the playoffs and that’s just how it is. It is no worse in baseball than it is in football. The competitive balance of all the leagues is fine.
If the Yankees win another title then the apocolypse is upon us…hell Steinbrenner is probably in hell right now baning Satan like Hussein did on South Park…
