Sadly that was the best moment of the game for the Knicks last nite. The next 3 years from Amare are gonna be so brutal it will undoubtedly go down as the worst contract in NBA history. In a weird way I didn’t mind overpaying for him initially, because he kind of revitalized the franchise in his first season when they were in great financial shape otherwise and the future looked bright. But now that they are right back where they used to be, capped out with shitty players, its a different story.
Can we just put Donnie Walsh back behind the wheel to clean up this mess again?

Amare/Lin for Deron Williams in a sign and trade. Brooklyn is gonna need a face for the franchise and Williams has no desire to play there. The Brooklyn owner is crazy enough to take on Stoudemires contract. Plus, Lin will draw a crowd every night whether they suck or no.
Amare cannot be a Knick anymore. I was at the game last night, and he is 1000x worse in person. No effort, no heart, no game.

why that trade is a stupid idea: Amare is one of the frailest players in the history of the league. he is NOT a franchise player. he is NOT a leader of any sort. Not sure how much he has left on his deal but he’s making $18mil this year – way more than he’s worth. Lin had a nice run for a couple weeks then fell off bigtime. pretty sure the Nets want to start off in their new location and new mascot, unis, ect with some substance and not some gimmick to get a bunch of asian fans to watch. they also wouldnt want to trade Deron within their own division. those are just reasons off the top of my head, im sure there’s plenty more. basically the knicks are fucked just like me (and many others) said they’d be when they signed Melo and Amare thinking they could elevate the team to contender status
You are exactly right, the Nets want to start off in their new location with some substance. Problem is, NO BODY wants to play there. It is a miserable franchise right now. They are gonna lose their star player, and have Brook Lopez/Kris Humphries as the only reason to go watch. Trading for a big name is the only option the Nets have right now, and Deron Williams (assuming a sign and trade) is the only piece they have to get any one. Neither Amare or Lin are worth a shit, but letting Deron leave with nothing in return is just as bad.
