In this series, Cano, Granderson and Swisher have hit even worse than A-Rod. You are going against a guy who is not going to let you score a lot of runs, so who would you rather have hitting: Alex or Chavez? He crushed the Red Sox until Mariano decided to start giving games away, and he dominated the full playoffs when they won the title. Of course he is not what he used to be (mostly due to injuries), but if you really want to send a bench warming bum whose main contribution will be average defense and maybe a double vs a guy who hit 2 HR’s of Verlander this season and has 600+ for his career, then you are a fucking moron. I’d take an overweight, 45yr old A-Rod 5 years after his retirement rather than Chavez. If he goes 0-3 then so be it, then he is just like Cano and Granderson.
