I’m All In On The New Kevin Bacon Show “The Following”
I watch a lot of TV. Pretty much all the major shows anyone talks about I’m in on it. But I usually only blog about shows I think are seriously legit or worthwhile. Like I recently caught up on all of the Walking Dead and all of American Horror Story and they’re entertaining, just not worth writing about. But this new show The Following is worth your time. It sounds weird to be down with a show on FOX – usually all those network shows suck – but I’m all in on it. The story is an ex-FBI agent (Kevin Bacon) is called out of “retirement” to track down an escaped serial killer he single handedly caught 10 years ago. In the process of tracking him down, we learn he murdered over 14 women and now has a cult of those fucked up people who get obsessed with serial killers and will do anything he says. He’s got a whole network of people on the outside who have infiltrated friends, family and enemies ready to carry out his legacy.
The pilot that aired this past Monday is sick. Packed more into one hour of TV than most shows do in like 3 weeks. More twists and turns in one episode than I’ve seen in a while. People stabbing themselves in the eyeballs. Backstabbing, kidnappings. If my count is right there was about 7 or 8 murders. So the real reason I’m blogging about it is I don’t want it to go the way of so many of these network shows that bite the bullet because of ratings. Ordinarily the big networks run garbage like the Big Bang Theory and 2 Broke Girls because its generic bullshit that garners viewers and they’ll axe a quality show half way through season 1 because of numbers. But The Following has already shot all of Season 1 – it airs for the next 14 Weeks in a row on Monday night, no breaks. Pick it up now and make sure it beats out all the other basic TV bullshit to lock in another season. To be honest the pilot was so fucking crazy and action packed I don’t even know how many seasons it could last, but I wanna find out.
PS – This show absolutely deserves to be on Showtime or HBO. I have no idea how it ended up on basic cable. Sucks.

thought it was pretty good. felt a lot like prison break though which means for a promising season 1, followed by a mediocre season 2 and then shitty season 3 to call it a wrap.

That second season was actually the worst thing I have ever watched. Why anyone would want to watch 12 straight hours of people sitting in a farm and bitching at each other is beyond me. Then there is the wife.
More happened in this first episode than the entire third season of The Walking Dead. Bacon, so hot right now, Bacon.
The Walking Dead, I thought, sucks. The Following was ehh – seemed a bit corny that they packed too much stuff into the pilot to spark interest.
@kbsmoka, I can’t speak for this show but Walking Dead is NOT worth writing about. Don’t get me wrong I’ve watched all the seasons but everybody already knows about it and there’s not many ways you can break down Daryl crossbowing a walked in the head. Killing zombies is cool but that show is no cinematic masterpiece.
After Lost fucked me over, I only get into tv series after 3 really good seasons. Only thing worth watching these days is Breaking Bad and Broadwalk Empire.
ok walking dead people, the third season had more action than the first 2 combined, so pippenainteasy, open your fucking eyes. Season 2 sucked balls, the rest was just decent, not miserable.
I was going to watch this show but then I read like 10 reviews after it aired that said it was horrible and the acting was a joke even including bacon, so enjoy your shitty show you fucking sheep KFC. How is this season of 90210 and pretty little liars?

I wasn’t gonna give this show a chance, but KFC you convinced me. On another note, I gotta agree with kbsmoka, maybe season 2 of the walking dead was slow as fuck, but story wise that’s good quality television. Now we’re on season 3.5 and the only one blogging about the Walking Dead doesn’t even follow it. If anything let me do blogs just on the walking dead for free, just cause I have nothing better to do. I read the comics and watch the show, so I actually know what I’m talking about. Season 3 has been kicking ass.
I was just basing it off his comment about writing about it. There is no way you can justify that comment after watching ONE EPISODE of this show. I saw it, it was ok but this shit could be cancelled after one season. Like @pblizzy said, season 3 of the Walking Dead has been great.
it was pretty good,, lots of scenarios that would never play out in real life. Serial killer on death row is in a regular jail cell where he breaks out. give me a fkn break
Bacon and he said he was already signed for 5 or 6 seasons of the Following so it will be interesting to see if it maintains interest that long. The majority of the audience (5.8 million viewers) were 50 and older, so that’s not real promising as I don’t think too many old fogeys will be tuning in again after the pilot (but what do I know. maybe old people are into serial killing of sorority chicks and ocular removal).
Season 2 of walking dead was awful. I was close to not watching any more. Season 3 has been good so far.
If you watch Game of Thrones or Boardwalk Empire, watching shows like this and the Walking Dead just don’t do it for you. Especially the Walking Dead. Worst fucking acting i have ever seen and blew its load durring season 1.
Sons of Anarchy sucks cock as well. So cheesy it is almost embarrassing to watch.
If you’re gonna get so fired up over the first episode of a show starring fucking Kevin Bacon you should at least reach out to Fox and try to get some cash for the publicity you’re generating (assuming they didn’t pay you to write this).

Everything I’ve seen about it pretends we should know who this clown is, rather than putting laughs in an ad to prove to us that he’s funny and worth our time.

Sorry, busy on Monday nights with a little show called “The Bachelor”, only murder I’m gonna be seeing is a few vagina’s getting crushed in the fantasy suite.
I have watched every episode of Walking Dead so far and it is definitely not worth blogging about. The show’s writing is awful, it’s like they know that people are gonna watch it so they just mail it in. Several plot holes, shitty characters, and nonstop bitching, that is the point of every episode, with the exception of a zombie kill here or there…if we’re lucky. The only blog worth viewing on the Walking Dead was on videogum where the guy just pointed out how bad each episode was, and he gave up on it so now there’s no point to go to that site.
Oh and about The Following, I only have one thing to say…Bacon is good for me.
They should just get the team from Criminal Minds on it. The show would only last one episode.
I only watch TV shows after they come out on DVD. Life is too short for commercials. In fact, the NFL playoffs have been absolutely brutal after a year worth of redzone.
