ScreenrantLast we’d heard about Independence Day 2, director Roland Emmerich and producer Dean Devlin were still struggling to find financing, but had a pretty good hold on where they wanted to take the franchise’s next two films. While we still can’t report that any member of the 1996 film’s cast has signed on to the project, or that the project has found its money, we have a very brief update for fans. Rumors had been circulating for a while that suggested at least one of theIndependence Day sequels would be titled ID Forever, and now Devlin has confirmed they will both bare that title. Since, as Devlin reveals, each movie will exist as one part of a larger story, the films have been appropriately titled ID Forever Part One and ID Forever Part Two.

We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish after one movie! We’re going to live on! We’re going to survive! Today, we celebrate…ID FOREVER PART ONE AND ID FOREVER PART TWO!

Alright so we need to work on the titles but sign me the fuck up for some more Jeff Goldblum and aliens. Seriously you could make 50 Independence Day’s as long as you give me David Levinson and extraterrestrials I am down. Especially the aliens from Independence Day. That was the best part of the movie for me. So many alien movies make them look like corny monsters. I think the aliens from ID4 are the best movie aliens. The ones from “Alien” are scary as fuck but I think the Independence Day ones are the most “realistic,” if you will.

Anyway, sounds like they are a long way from getting this done. Getting Will Smith back on board will probably be hard. But you know Goldblum and Bill Pullman are down to fuck with these sequels. And lets be honest, thats all you really need.
