Minaya And Wilpon Send Mariano Rivera Pitching Rubber From His 500th

USA TODAY – With their playoff position secured, the New York Yankees took a few moments Tuesday night to salute Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera for milestone achievements this season.  Jeter and Rivera were presented with a bounty of special gifts during a ceremony behind home plate before the Yankees played the Kansas City Royals.  Jeter broke Lou Gehrig’s franchise record for hits with No. 2,722 on Sept. 11. Rivera reached 500 saves on June 28.  Jeter was given home plate and first base, both encased, from the night he surpassed Gehrig.  Rivera was given the bullpen bench from the old Yankee Stadium and the Citi Field pitching rubber from the night he earned save No. 500 against the New York Mets across town.

I’ll let JimmyD suck off Jeter and Rivera and any other Yankees in the organization, because that makes perfect sense. What makes NO FUCKING SENSE WHATSOEVER is Mariano Rivera being presented with a commemorative pitching rubber from Citi Field, framed, with a letter from Omar Minaya and Jeff Wilpon congratulating Rivera for earning his 500th save at Citi at the hands of the Mets.  Are the Mets FUCKING SERIOUS?  How can you be completely out of touch with your entire fan base and their feelings towards the cross town rival?  That shit is revolting. Despicable. Deplorable.  Does Jeff Wilpon WANT ME to hate the NY Mets? That is a serious question. I am actually wondering if he consciously wants me to hate the team that he owns and I TRY to love. Baseballl is baseball. If a team struggles you need to stick by them. If the have a losing season, you need to stick by them. If their medical staff is completely incompetent and allows 79% of the roster to get injured all at once…you need to stick by them. If the front office completely loses control of its executives and allows them to FIGHT TEENAGERS SHIRTLESS, you need to…. JESUS CHRIST.

But really, Jeff. Do you want to push me passed frustration, directly through hate and into the emotion of pure, unadulterated rage? MARIANO RIVERA? Really Fred? What would compel you to HONOR Mariano Rivera? Is he on the Mets? Has he EVER been on the Mets? Oh no, he’s actualy on the team Mets fans despise with a vile venom. Yep! Sounds like the 1st person I’d like to honor. Lets fill up the stadium with Dodgers memorabilia too! Oh wait thats already been done. Hey… maybe we should just give Chipper Jones and Bobby Cox a plaque too! Have we honored Kenny Rogers enough for “Ball 4″? Am I in the fucking Twilight Zone? For an organization that took SO much heat for not praising their own franchise’s history, how could the GM and Owner possibly think its a good idea to honor a Yankee?  Coming just days after losing their 90th game, Minaya and Wilpon are worried about Yankee ceremonies. Be on the look out for a double murder/suicide later today folks.  KMarko might be on his own after today.
