NYDNAn 8-year-old gunshot victim got a giant boost to his spirits Sunday when a New York Knicks representative brought him team mementos — including a Jeremy Lin bobblehead toy. Brave Bronx boy Armando Bigo was recovering in his Jacobi Medical Center bed from a stray bullet to the left shoulder when a big box of Knicks gear arrived — red jerseys and T-shirts, fan magazines, a backpack, a towel, a wash cloth and a hat. “Armando couldn’t believe it was for him,” said Ellie Flores, his aunt. “He just looked up at the guy and said, ‘Is that really for me?’” There was even a personal, hand-written letter for the second-grader to treasure. “The Knicks are so proud of you, you’re a hero to us! Get well soon, and enjoy these gifts from the team. We’ll see you at a game soon!” the letter read. Armando, who was shot on Tuesday after he ducked into a bodega in Soundview with his mother to buy chips, could be released from Jacobi as early as Monday. Meanwhile, the teen busted Friday in the shooting is being held on $250,000 bail after being charged with attempted murder. Eduardo Rodriguez, 15, was arraigned Sunday in Bronx Criminal Court after a witness identified him in a lineup, prosecutors said. Rodriguez was allegedly gunning for a teen in a rival group, police said.

In case you missed it last week, my man Armando Bigo took a stray bullet in the shoulder last week in a bodega up in the Bronx. Dude looked like Bruce Willis in Die Hard taking bullets like it ain’t no big deal. All he was worried about was why his mother was crying and he kept apologizing for getting blood on the floor of the deli even though some scumbag thug had just almost killed him. I said Bloomberg shoulda given him the keys to the city and Letterman should have him on Late Night. Looks like he’ll have to settle for some Jeremy Lin Knicks gear. Nice gesture from the Knicks, I figured they deserved some recognition for it. Solid PR move on their behalf and cheering up a tubby little man in the hospital recovering from a gunshot wound. Its a win-win. Mets PR department should take notes.
