*+4 stolen bases for Ichiro

 

A Rod and Ichiro spent the day setting up camp on the two ends of the Yankee fan adoration spectrum. If the team can go into the playoffs with this version of Ichiro, not that knockoff model we saw for the most part of the year, that changes things. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, but maybe playing every day can get him back to that point. And if not, we can go always go back to relying on Andruw Jones who has about the same amount of hits in 2 months as Ichiro does in the last 9 hours.

As far as A Rod goes, he’s been swinging better since he got off the DL, so given the fact that the team swept today, it’s alright to make a little fun of him for his historically bad doubleheader. Ted Williams used a doubleheader in 1941 to reach and pass .400; A Rod used one today to make 9 outs in 7 at bats.
