NYDN- A stealthy gunman murdered a 31-year-old man visiting Manhattan with a single shot to the back of the head Monday, then slipped away from the broad-daylight attack near crowded Columbus Circle. The cold-blooded killer used a silver semiautomatic pistol in the shocking apparent hit in front of St. Thomas Choir School on W. 58th St. near Seventh Ave., police said. Brandon Woodard, a law student with a criminal record who was visiting from Los Angeles, died at Roosevelt Hospital. “The shooter walked up behind him and shot him at close range,” said Paul Browne, the NYPD’s top spokesman. “He just walked up, shot him and walked away.” The bold assassin then walked about 60 feet before hopping into the front passenger seat of a Lincoln MKZ sedan, which another person drove down Seventh Ave., Browne said.  Woodard had a criminal record, according to police sources. He got in a scrap with a bodyguard for R&B star Usher at a Las Vegas concert in 2004 — accusing the bodyguard of giving him a wedgie so severe that he bled. “That was one of the more creative descriptions of getting thrown out of a place I have ever heard,” the bodyguard, Elijah Shaw, said Monday night. Woodard served time on a battery rap.  He was due in court on Jan. 22 in Beverly Hills on a felony cocaine possession charge, officials said. In 2009, he pleaded no contest to a felony and a misdemeanor hit-and-run charge, and in 2008 he pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor counts of theft for stealing from a Whole Foods and another upscale market. In 2009, he was wanted for stealing wine from a supermarket near Los Angeles. He led a chase into a neighboring town and escaped.

I don’t know whats worse:

A) Getting executed in the middle of Columbus Circle

or

B) Having the Daily News including your atomic wedgie story in your obituary write up.

I need a third option like C) A & B. Just brutal. “Brandon Woodward was a troubled man with a checkered past who recently found his way. He was able to change his ways and was a successful law student at the time of his death. Also one time Usher’s bodyguard pulled his underpants so far up his asshole he started to bleed. Mr. Woodward was 31 years old.” Thanks a fucking lot, Daily News! Really doing this guy justice huh? Guy gets shot in the head in broad daylight and they’re writing about the times he shoplifted from a super market and the night he got his tighty whities pulled up over his head. Its almost like the News was trying to keep up with the Post. Like “I’ll see your ‘taking pictures of a man about to die instead of helping him’ and I’ll raise you ‘talking how murder victims once bled from an atomic wedgie.’” Some solid journalism in New York these days.
