Is Harvey gonna be eligible for the Cy Young this year? Because he’s the best pitcher in the league. Matter of fact I think they should just rename it the “Matt Harvey” award. I’m still hoping RA Dicky can win the Matt Harvey but Strasburgh is looking so sharp. Its gonna come down to the wire for the NL Matt Harvey. Bottom line is I haven’t been this excited since the Wild Things threesome.
For sure not. I’ve learned my lesson folks. Lets pump the brakes. Harvey looked excellent, and theres a lot to be excited about. With Niese and Gee performing pretty well these past couple seasons, Harvey shining in his debut, and Wheeler on the way, the Mets actually have a decent core of guys that at least have potential. But I’ve played this game before. I’ve been down this road. Generation K and Eddie Kunz and Pelfrey and Humber and a slew of Hispanic position players in between have all tricked Mets fans before.
The way I see it, we’ll be lucky if one of these guys pans out.

Big Mets fan here, as you could probably guess. Seen Harvey pitch several times now. My thoughts: very good mid-90′s fastball with an inconsistent breaking ball. Has a tendency to hang one a little too often, and will pay for it in the majors. He also needs to develop a change-up if he’s ever going to become a top-of-the-rotation type. My guess is he’ll be a solid #3 on a good team, a #2 on bad teams.
As for Wheeler, by all accounts he’s the better prospect, but it’s hard to say anyone could be leaps-n-bounds better than what Harvey showed last night. Fastball 94-98 with a sharp break on the curve. Let’s not get crazy with Wheeler, please.
Matt threw 96 with a sick curve in high school. I don’t recall anybody “rippingtits” against him.
