Forbes – The dark cloud that hangs over the $10 billion-in-revenue NFL is back in the news a week before the league’s marquee event. In an interview with The New Republic, President Obama weighed in on the safety of football, as well as gun violence, Syria and more. “I’m a big football fan, but I have to tell you if I had a son, I’d have to think long and hard before I let him play football. And I think that those of us who love the sport are going to have to wrestle with the fact that it will probably change gradually to try to reduce some of the violence,” says Obama. “In some cases, that may make it a little bit less exciting, but it will be a whole lot better for the players, and those of us who are fans maybe won’t have to examine our consciences quite as much,” he adds. He later says that  he is more concerned about college players instead of the those in the NFL who mostly are, “well-compensated for the violence they do to their bodies.

Listen I don’t care about Fiscal Cliffs and debt ceilings. Don’t really care if gay people can get married or not. My paycheck went down and my benefits went up, but none of really impacted my life. Politics and economics and all that boring shit is for the birds. Don’t care what POTUS says about all that jazz.

But I don’t want my president being one of these concussion nancies. If Obama had a son that was gay and got married and didn’t have the right to bear arms, thats fine with me. But don’t tell me you wouldn’t let your son toss around the pigskin as a kid. Don’t tell me you’d steer your boy to play lacrosse or some shit. You think Putin would say something like that? Vladimir Putin probably wouldn’t allow his son to play football because football isn’t dangerous enough. Putin would have his sons fighting in the UFC on days when they weren’t base jumping or heli-skiing or riding bulls or some shit.

This is America, Mr. President! Our whole country is based on gratuitous violence. We’re a nation of greedy people who need to constantly consume over the top entertainment. Our heroes are people who are OK with the fact that they’re gonna die when they’re 50 because they’re making zillions of dollars. These are the tenets on which modern America thrives. If you don’t like it go join the British Parliament or some shit.
