Public Health Group Wants Gatorade To Pull Their Jordan Flu Game Ad Because It Promotes Dangerous Behavior
USA Today – A health group wants to make it clear that Gatorade is not a wonder drug and Michael Jordan is not a superhero. The Public Health Advocacy Institute is asking the U.S. government to pull a Gatorade ad that implies that Jordan overcame the flu during a 1997 playoff game with help from the energy drink. The group believes the ad encourages young athletes to participate in dangerous behavior. “The Jordan Ad openly promotes engaging in vigorous physical activity while suffering from a very high fever, in Jordan’s case 103 degrees,” the institute said in a letter dated May 8 to the U.S. Federal Trade Commission. “It is a generally recognized safety principle that teens and even professional athletes suffering from a severe fever and flu-like symptoms should not engage in vigorous physical activity.” PepsiCo, the parent company for Gatorade, had no comment on the letter.
I heard this story on Boomer and Carton this morning and I got up and went and bought a cup of coffee just so that I could take a sip of it and spit it out all over the fucking place. Its nauseating. Disgusting. The Jordan Flu Game is one of the best sports moments of the past 25 years. Fuck, its one of the best sports moments of all time. Its was the single best competitive moment from arguably the best athlete ever. It brought the most cutthroat competitor to the brink of tears. This ad is one of the best motivators for young athletes ever. Its the embodiment of perseverance and dedication. Teaches you to never let anything stop you from achieving your goal. But instead we’re gonna turn this into yet another “this is too dangerous for kids” saga. When you have the flu you should drink plenty of fluids and just lay in bed! Don’t ever power through adversity for something you want, kids! Don’t strive for greatness unless your body temperature is exactly 98.6 degrees!
Maybe next time Gatorade will just make a 30 second spot of some fat unathletic 15 year old sitting in bed with snot running down his face saying electrolytes are good for you when you’re sick. That will really inspire people.

haha absolutely one of the greatest moments in sports history right there, KFC A+ blog once again sir. I’ve got to say your blogs are what keep me from going on a shooting spree half the time while at work….well that and trolling winning1, kids just straight up gay as AIDs.
Besides you have to be a complete idiot to think drinking gatorade is the antidote to the flu. Jordan was just drinking it because that was what was keeping him hydrated because it was the only thing there.
Just the Public Health Advocacy just trying to get their name out there.
yes, this ad is totally encouraging kids to engage in “dangerous behavior” like putting your team on your back in the NBA finals when you are sick. good thing 99.999999999999999999% of kids will never have to make that decision, they’ll just call Suzy from HR and tell her they have the flu
and shouldnt this group be worrying about ads for shit like 5 hour energy or those diet pills the kardashian whores endorse?
do these people actually get all riled up seeing ads like this? like, “oh fuck those assholes over at pepsico are endangering our children with their awesome MJ commercials again!” Or do they know their complaint is totally ludicrous and they just suck it up cuz it’s their job to bitch and moan about this shit?
So… when is Gatorade coming to your place to film the commercial of you in your forever lazy onesie?
One of the greatest performances by an athlete ever. STFU.
And when Kobe does it EVERY PLAYOFFS peopel shouldn’t worry because that’s phony too. All an act. Relax.
wow. yah. that was amazing. Jordan was sick. he had a temperature. He could barely walk. His temp was 104.
Wait………….who said he was sick, had a 104 temp, could barely walk? OH YEAH………right – Jordan himself told everyone this.
total fraud. Fuck him. Best sports moment – fuck off. Total scam.
