-Not surprised at all Manningham makes that catch. Dude has been making amazing sideline plays like that all season.
-Not a dominant game from the D-Line and Brady had plenty of time to throw his little pussy dinks and dunks all night, but the G-Men got pressure when they needed. Don’t know if Osi comes back next year but JPP + Tuck is still the best 1-2 defensive punch in the league.
-Great pick by Ball Hawkin’ Chase Blackburn on the deep ball to Gronkowski.
-Anyone who says Bradshaw shouldn’t have scored a TD on that last drive is certifiably retarded. This is the SUPER BOWL. Nothing is guaranteed. Look at Baltimore 2 weeks ago. and calling eli the best QB is ridiculous. is he a good QB? absolutely. but greatness isn’t measured solely by championships, those are strictly team achievements. i don’t think brady is a great quarterback because he’s won 3 super bowls and led us to 5. that’s all well and fine, but what makes brady great is his performance week in and week out. brady could have won zero rings and i’d still consider him better than eli just based on their individual weekly performances.
dan marino, jim kelly, warren moon, and dan fouts are all better QBs than trent dilfer, brad johnson, jeff hostetler, and mark rypien, that’s not even debatable. but the former group have 0 rings while the other four bums all have one. but not one of those guys will even sniff the hall of fame ballots.

joedirt, this season is ridiculously easy to justify. the pats were never a championship team to start with. great offense, lousy defense. you don’t win rings like that. the truth is, the pats are a 9-7 team with a stupid easy schedule. we played three good teams all year, the ravens, the steelers and the giants. we lost two, and we were a dropped TD pass away from dropping all three. winning ten in a row doesn’t impress me when hardly any of the teams were worthy opponents. we were lucky to get the broncos in the first round of the playoffs, pittsburgh would have murdered us. at no point this season did i see a championship-worthy team. i really would have rather bowed out earlier in the playoffs and not put a substandard team out there to play for a championship (one that STILL almost beat a much more balanced giants team), and i’ve been saying that all along, it’s not just sour grapes now that the game has been played. congrats to the giants. but please don’t act like you slayed goliath, because you didn’t.

i feel you, stro. i’m not trying to stomp on anyone’s victory. i’ll be the first one to say congrats to the giants on a great season. the giants weren’t even the best team this year, but you gotta respect the way they caught fire towards the end and they made it happen when it mattered. i’m not even that bent out of shape about the pats losing, because i saw it coming the second that ball went through the uprights in san francisco. the giants were the worst possible remaining matchup for the pats. if anything, i’m proud that we didn’t get destroyed in the areas where we were the most outmatched. the nicks-cruz-manningham combo could’ve easily scorched us for 4 TDs, and that D-line was kept pretty quiet all day. the pats played their asses off and honestly played like the better team. but the giants got it done in the end, and that’s what it is. so good for them. but i can’t be too hard on this pats team. brady, gronk, hernandez, and most likely welker, will all be back. they still have big vince holding down the line. we have two first rounders in the draft to patch defensive holes. the future still looks bright. most franchises have down years, but the pats really don’t. they don’t rebuild, they reload. and as a guy who knows football and isn’t just a fanboy, i appreciate the fuck out of that. so it’s a tough day today, but i still feel great about the next 3-4 seasons. but as much as i tip my cap to eli and the g-men, i’m just not ready to start fitting forrest gump for his HOF jacket just yet. i’ll still take brady as my starter in the big game 100 times out of 100.

i want to add that steve weatherford got JERKED for the MVP, haha. eli was ok yesterday, but i wouldn’t call it an MVP performance. he threw a good ball on that manningham catch, but the catch and foot placement were better than the throw. nicks had to go up and get a few of them too. weatherford was fucking lights out. tired of seeing special teams get the shit end of the stick all the time. just as important as offense or defense.
