Its April, the Yankees are winning, the Mets are surging (kinda). The Knicks are making a playoff push. But its never too early to talk football.

I don’t put too much credence in projecting a season with a teams schedule. So much can change in the NFL from year to year that you just don’t know. Last season nobody wanted to see Indianapolis when schedules were released in April and look what happened there? Teams were probably salivating to face Alex Smith an what happened with that? Who knows what the Broncos will look like. Who knows how the Saints will handle their shit. A million variables. But lets take a look, starting with the Giants.

Yikes. The toughest schedule in the entire league based on 2011. They face 7 playoff teams. We all already knew they would kick off the NFL season with a serious NFC East challenge, but how about that stretch to close the season? An absolutely brutal stretch from November through the end of December. Packers, Skins, Saints, Falcons, Ravens, Eagles. Oh my. Of course, the Skins could be completely rebuilding and learning with RGIII. Or maybe he’s the next Cam Newton and they are a serious threat. Either way thats a team that beat them twice last year and is never a gimme. The Saints could be hit or miss. The Eagles may be the Dream Team or the may be the same mediocre squad. But regardless that 6 game stretch is ugly. That Bye week in Week 11 is gonna be the most important bye week ever. Motherfuckers better REST. From a fans point of view – only one Monday Night Football game, and a lot of night games on the schedule to start the season. Personally I’m not a fan of either of those.

Now to the Jets. Jets at home, primetime, against the Pats, on motherfuckin Thanksgiving. Thats gonna be a doozy. A doozy in the sense that we’ll probably be on the verge of getting swept by the Pats and falling to 5-6 but it still should be fun nonetheless! Being perfectly honest this is the last thing I wanted to see for the Jets schedule. There is going to be SO much hoopla to start the season. Between the Tebow drama and Rex and Sanchez in desperate need of a bounce back season, the one thing the Jets needed to do was come out early this season and put Ws on the board. The only thing that would shut everyone up is a 4-0, 3-1 start. Hard to do that when you start off with Bills, Steelers, Dolphins, 49ers, Texans. I mean being realistic, that could be a 1-4 start. You’re lucky to grab 2 there. Two tough division games against the Bills and Fins who are complete wild cards at this point – if you get the Bills that started 6-2 or the Fins that finished 6-3, watch out. Because losses to Pittsburgh, San Fran and Houston are probably in order. Pressures on Mark. Channel your 2010 self. Brutal.

But like I said, who knows what the future really holds.
