ESPNA source told ESPN The Magazine’s Chris Broussard that half of Amare Stoudemire‘s hand was “hanging off” after he punched the glass casing containing a fire extinguisher after the Knicks’ loss to the Heat in Game 2 on Monday.  “He didn’t haul off and punch the glass; he hit it out of frustration,” a person who witnessed the incident told Broussard. “He kind of slapped it, but with a closed fist. He said he thought it was plastic instead of glass.  “Half of his hand was just hanging off. It was really bad. Blood was just squirting out. That’s why they had the paramedics come in, because they thought he might have punctured an artery because of how much blood was coming out.”  A second league source said that amid the chaotic scene in the locker room, people could be heard calling for towels to tend to the injured Stoudemire, who already had bled onto the floor.

What a dumb motherfucker, huh? Unbelievable. Almost slice your goddam hand off because you decided to throw a hissy fit that you only took 9 shots. Just unbelievable.

Last night I had an epiphany. I was watching all the talk about Amare and how the Knicks are gonna get swept and I thought to myself “I can’t believe how quickly the Knicks are back in this situation.” For like 10 years the Knicks were completely capped out with mediocre players, bogged down by large contracts with no end in sight. Laughing stock of the league, on and off the court. Donnie Walsh was called in to cleanup that mess, and in a year or two completely cleaned house. Filled the Knicks roster with young, cheap talent, and got way under the cap during the Summer of Lebron. Got rid of all the losers and albatrosses and started fresh. And now just 2 short years later they are back in the same exact spot they were. $60 million owed to Amare the last 3 years of his uninsured contract. $45 million owed to Carlmelo over the next 2. Tyson Chandler, this year’s defensive play of the year and a guy I absolutely love, but at the hefty cost of $15 mil a year until 2015. Diva players stirring the pot with management. Stars embarrassing the franchise off the court. And there you have it. There are the Knicks of old – mediocre and capped out talking about who they are gonna offer the Mid Level Exception. You know how many fucking years Knicks fans had to hear about the goddam mid level exception???? It just blows my mind how a franchise can get themselves RIGHT back in a shitty situation almost over night.
