SNY – The Knicks are targeting Joe Johnson as their No. 1 free agent choice and believe he’s a better fit for the team than LeBron James, according to an NBA source with knowledge of the team’s plans. “Yes, we think he’s a better player,” the source said of Johnson. “He makes other people better. With LeBron’s people running the locker room that hurts the organization.” The source also mentioned concerns about James’ entourage taking over the franchise. “I don’t care what most people think,” the source said. “I’m not saying that LeBron is not a good player, but other stuff comes with it. LeBron’s friends want jobs. You’re gonna lose running your organization. As time goes on you got to hire this guy, you got to hire that guy.”

…..After meeting with Johnson, the Knicks will meet with Amar’e Stoudemire in Los Angeles on Wednesday before going to meet with James in the Akron, Ohio, area. The source said the team’s No. 1 option would be to land Johnson and Stoudemire. “Yeah, we’ll have room next year to get somebody next year,” the source said, referring to the 2011 free agency class that includes Carmelo Anthony.  Asked who would play point guard with the Knicks next season, the source said Toney Douglas would. He also said the Knicks could pursue Steve Blake.

There is a superduperstar athlete about to enter the prime of his career. He’s about to be a free agent, and every team wants him. One NY team thinks this guy can save their franchise, and that they are this close to signing him. But like usual, that NY team fucks up. And the next thing everyone knows, the superduperstar signs somewhere else, and the NY team is left with their dicks in their hands.

This isn’t LeBron and the Knicks folks. This is A-Rod and the Mets 10 years ago. A-Rod chose the Rangers, so the Mets blamed A-Rod’s crazy demands on the reason they didn’t sign him. But when you’re ready to invest $200+ mill in someone, why the hell not just go the extra yard and give the motherfucker his luxury suites or private jet? Makes no sense. Its like one of you donkeys about to take down a smoke. She wants just one more shot of Patron before you leave the bar? Doesn’t matter if you hate tequila and already closed your tab. You’re not gonna draw the line and say no more. You buy the fucking shot and you fucking love it and your dick will thank you in the morning. Done and done.

And now a source is suddenly saying Joe Johnson is a better fit for the Knicks than LeBron James? Go fuck yourself dude. More like the Knicks are finally realizing what a fucking joke they are and that they have no chance of landing LeBron and are trying not to look like a big bag of assholes to whatever fans this team has left.

If they really think Joe Johnson and Amar’e Stoudemire and maybe Carmelo a year from now are the most realistic options for getting out of this decade-long abyss of sucking, I’m fine with it. But don’t piss in my face and tell me it’s raining, and don’t tell me you want a 29-year old Joe Johnson who might have peaked last year over a 25-year old LeBron James who’s peak cannot even be put into words. Because of better team chemistry? There are only 5 guys on the team right now!! Well 7 if you count Eddy Curry’s titties. Or Johnson is better because some of LeBron’s boys might want a job? Fuck that I’ll interview each one of them myself. LeBron’s BFF can run the fucking point if it means he comes to the Knicks. Not sure who his BFF is but it can’t be much worse than that genius plan of Tony Douglas or Steve Blake at the 1 next year.

And I blame one man for ruining what was NYC’s best chance at landing the most physically gifted basketball player of all time. Donnie Walsh. Yeah Isiah Thomas was the one who raped the shit out of the Knicks roster, not to mention that chick. But Donnie Walsh was brought in to fix that mess and clear cap space for a chance at LeBron. Yeah he got under the cap. But when your biggest advantage is your cap space, and half a dozen teams around the NBA have done the exact same thing, its not such an advantage anymore. Plus when each of those teams has managed to do it with better young players, more draft picks, and just a better future than the Knicks can ever dream of, its not helping anyone’s case.

Whatever happens, the future of the Knicks will depend on what magic Donnie can pull off in the next week. Here’s to hoping he pulls a big ass rabbit out of his hat.
