Where Does Joe Put Ichiro in the Lineup?
Note how I’m asking where Joe will put Ichiro and not where Ichiro is the best fit. This is because it could be as the leadoff guy, but we know that isn’t happening unless Jeter gives it the green light. Personally, I like him hitting second with the hole on the right side opening up when Jeter gets on. On the other hand, you can make the argument that the Yankees would have two leadoff hitters if you plug him in the 9 hole. It’s always nice to have a circular lineup. The saying goes that you can never have too much pitching, but it doesn’t hurt having too many leadoff hitters either. Not a bad problem to have.
Confusing voting instructions aside, vote 1 for hitting second and 10 for hitting ninth.

where do most .260 hitters with comically low OBPs bat?
He is batting 8th, no need for a vote and you were wrong on both options
He’s gotta be near the bottom he’s the Asian Gardner for the moment so ninth does make the most sense. Side note over/under on games before sterling makes a hong kong fooey during a Suzuki call. Start at 2.5
frothy walrus
Yeah, we all know guys with a .288 OBP make great leadoff hitters.
A+ troll blog.
According to the Yankees website, he’ll be wearing #51. That’s a slap in the face of Bernie Williams, if you ask me..
Vote 5 for “The Bench.”
9th
31 you fucktard
how about a retirement home?
near the bottom but i love it.
He’s going to be hitting 350 till the end of september.
Is it possible to make a poll that doesn’t have to be a rank 1-10? That seems logical.
Strasser, like every other writer on this site besides Mo, knows nothing about sports outside of his own team(s). It’s better than Pres who doesn’t even know shit about his own teams, I suppose, but you would expect him to at least look up Ichiro’s stats before writing about him. If he had done so he would notice that it is retarded to even ask this question. A team with Jeter, Granderson, Swisher, Cano, Teixeira, and Rodriguez is not going to have a guy with a .288 OBP batting anywhere besides eighth or ninth. Ichiro is an excellent pinch runner and defensive replacement at this point in his career, but not much more. I expect him to revive his offense enough to at least justify some playing time in the OF, but anybody who expects him to go back to hitting .330 with a .380 OBP is a delusional twat. This is probably a mostly meaningless transaction done because it is cheap and the Yankees could use a defensive replacement/pinch runner for the playoffs.
So yesterday I posted this about ‘should Yankees go after pitching or hitting….how far off was I???? – 5MinuteMajor on July 23rd, 2012 at 1:56 PM
Target any All-stars whose contracts are about to expire, trade a few minor leaguers and a bag of balls for them and sign them to a $100 million extension. Business as usual in your team’s effort to collapse every small market team and take an entire sport down with it. So who really cares if it’s a pitcher or a hitter? You have an entire sport to destroy…now get to work!
