first off, congrats to the giants and their fans. you guys got hot when it mattered, and the 9-7 record probably would have been more like 12-4 if they weren’t so banged up the first half of the season. so a tip of the cap to the g-men. great season.
that said, this loss doesn’t hurt as bad as ’07 because i never expected the pats to win anyway. the only reason the pats got to the big game is because of the ridiculously easy regular season schedule. if they had the schedule that a top tier team should, they probably would have gone 9-7 and may or may not have even made the playoffs. they definitely wouldn’t have had home-field, and then who knows if we even make it through the divisional round. bottom-line is: at no point this season did i see a championship team from the patriots. a championship offense, yes. but not a championship team.
it’s not like we got destroyed, and on paper, the giants should have destroyed us, especially with gronk out there at 12%. honestly, i wish cundiff hit that FG and we went out gracefully in OT, cuz i’d rather not make the big game at all than get there and lose. but the pats played a decent game given the circumstances, and i at least feel like they left it all on the field. new england should be real proud of this team. they had no business being in the super bowl and still almost came away with it.
and they ain’t going anywhere. 2 years left on gronk and hernandez’ deals. welker should be re-signed. brady has 3 or 4 good years left. the defense needs a few holes filled…oh yeah, maybe we can use those two first round picks we have in this year’s draft. the patriots aren’t going anywhere but UP.
and always remember, there are teams that go DECADES without even reaching the super bowl, let alone win one. never forget to be thankful for the success we enjoy. contenders every year, and we’ve been to 5 fucking super bowls in ten years. that’s fucking absurd. and it stings giving NY bragging rights, i know that. but if you really want to talk bragging rights, how about all four major sports teams from boston won championships in a seven year span, and we have a total of seven titles in ten years. that’s absolutely unheard of. it’s never been done before, and it most likely won’t happen again in our lifetimes, if ever again at all. i’ll take that record over one super bowl any day. it is still very, very good to be from boston!
